Can't Make Money In Network Marketing?

I had a really interesting conversation the other day with one of my own downline members the other day  ”I can’t get anyone to buy my stuff or join the business!  I can’t make any money in network marketing!”   Her complaint was one that you’ll hear VERY commonly in network marketing, especially with those new to the business.

You see, she was building her business online, which is smart.  She was getting lots of traffic to her website, getting leads for her business.  So everything up to this point was working well for her.

Now is where she started getting into trouble.

Really, what it all comes down to is your focus when your trying to make money in network marketing.  Far too often, people think “How do I ‘get’ people to buy my product, juice or join me in my business?”

This is absolutely the wrong focus.  It isn’t about what YOU want, its about what your prospects or leads want and what problem they are trying to solve.

It has nothing to do with how great you think your product is, how awesome you think you compensation plan is, or how much hype your upline tries to bring to you and get you motivated.

There is no way to convince, trick or coerce people into buying your stuff or joining you in a business.  Sure there are some high pressure tactics that might work temporarily.  But in the end, your never going to make big or in the long term make money in network marketing.

The key is to focus on what makes your prospect tick, what THEY want, what problem are they trying to solve?  If your marketing your “joint pain” product.  Look for people online who are trying to get rid of join pain and offer your product as a solution to them.  Don’t run around and say “Buy my stuff, your gonna love it!” to people who don’t have that problem or don’t care.

All the targeted network marketing leads, fancy videos, or websites won’t do you a bit of good unless you take the focus off of you and instead focus on your potential customer and what they want.

I know its almost backwards thinking, but thats how it works and the absolute best way to make money in network marketing, or any business for that matter.

Wimpy Network Marketer

I was sitting around reading a really good email from a copywriter Ben Settle (I highly recommend getting on his list BTW) and it sparked a thought about a really common problem, particularly among Network Marketers.

You see, and when you get more into internet network marketing, you’ll see more of this.

People, especially Network Marketers are just deathly afraid of asking for a sale.  It’s just kinda weird ya know?  People want to make money, but yet, they still melt like jellyfish when it comes time to just simply ask.

You might have heard the “old school” mantra of ‘its not selling, its telling”.

What a bunch of baloney!!!

Your ML’M opportunity is a business, right?  How do businesses make their money?  They make sales.  The more sales they make, the more money they make.

However, wayyy too many Network Marketers are too squeemish about just asking for the sale.  They will go on and on about how great their product is (which is the absolute wrong approach BTW), but when it comes down to it, they never ask the simple question, “Are you interested in this?  Would you like to go ahead and buy it?”

Sounds simple huh?  It is!  If they say no, who cares right?

Just move on.

Here is a little thing though, if you keep wussing out, your never going to make any sales, product, business, online or offline.  Lets just face it.

This is VERY different than just asking anyone and everyone to join your business or buy your product.  When it comes into play is when you’ve gotten someone actually somewhat interested in what you have to offer.

It’s like popping the “big question” I talked about in the last email. So, yes, those wimpy network marketers that don’t ask for the sale and don’t get ‘em…..and then they have skinny kids.

The next time you get close, just go ahead and ask for the sale.  It doesn’t have to be fancy, slick (its better if its not) you’ve just gotta do it.

MLM Guru Chasing Prospect?

So I was standing in line in the super market the other day.  Let me tell ya, Sunday is THE worst day to ever go, unless you love standing in line waiting to check out and twiddling your thumbs.

But there I was, and actually saw something that if you use correctly, will be a HUGE help to your business.

Well, there I was waiting to go check-out, kids screaming asking for candy again and again and again, and I saw a title of a magazine that caught my eye.

So, yes, I’ll admit I picked up the magazine and read it for about 5 minutes or so while I was waiting in line.  Gosh there were tons of ads in that magazine.

You know, one of THOSE magazines that no-one will ever admit to reading, the tabloid magazines, like “Star Chronicles” or “Enquirer” or anything like that.

Well, here is the thing, TONS of people read and buy them as they are some of the best selling magazines on the planet,  seriously they are.

Just to make it quick, the sole purpose of the headline in anything, whether it is an email message, blog post, website, anything is to get what you are doing noticed long enough for the person to read it.

Especially online, people are absolutely bombarded with all kinds of advertisements.  You NEED a killer headline to get noticed these days, especially in the netwurk marketing field, where there are so many self-proclaimed fake-it-till-you-make-it ”ML’M guru’s” and “mentors” out there.

You really only have about 5-10 seconds to grab someones attention to see if they are going to read any further or not.

But, see here is the thing, sometimes its tough to constantly be thinking about “killer” eye ball popping headlines.  Sometimes ya just go brain dead ya know?  I know I do.

To solve this, one of the most important assets you can build for yourself is called a “swipe file” of ads, headlines, emails, sales pages for ML’M opportunities, etc.

What is a “swipe file”?  Its a collection of killer ads and headlines that you can read, draw inspiration from, emulate other successful headlines, and use your own unique twist to GET noticed today.

Lets face it, if your not getting noticed, your not gonna build a downline or have people buy from you, period.

People, especially your potential ML’M prospects are so stressed about money, and trying to make ends meet that they walk around in a haze sometimes.  A good headline will shake them up a bit and give you enough time to “enter their world”

Now, I’ll admit, I’m not the most creative person most of the time.  I’m actually more of a numbers kind of guy.And it can take a TON of time to collect your own swipe file of headlines.

So, one of my secret weapons is that I acquire really good swipe files when I can.  To get me going for my websites and get my creativity juice going.

MLM Start

Often times, people think they can get their MLM start by jumping into network marketing with the idea that they are going to make millions of dollars, quite their job, and live the good life.  However, probably 90% of those who have dreams like this never even earn dollar 1.  Here are three keys to getting your MLM start.

Third, and most important for the long term growth of your business and the MLM start up of yours, is to build a list of subscribers or an opt-in email list.  Create a simple lure for your MLM list and entice people to become a subscriber.  You’ve gotta have leads and a list BEFORE you can even begin to think about recruiting for your MLM business.
