A great marketer once was holding a lecture about (and I’m paraphrasing here) marketing and asked, “If you were trying to sell a burger, what one thing would you want to have to sell the most?”

A couple answers were:

“A juicy burger”

“A great location”

“Good Service”

However, that marketer shook his head and said this, “The one thing that you need has nothing to do with anything you can have, but everything to do with who you are selling to.  What you want is a hungry crowd….”

Think about it and your own network marketing product or business.  Let’s say that you have a cream that relieves joint pain.

How To Get Your Phone Ringing Off The Hook

Who would you have your biggest success with?

Healthy People?

Athletes?

Young People?

Old People?

Nope, you’d have your biggest success selling it to people who were hungry for it….people who had joint pain and were trying to get rid of it….

Get it?

Get those product in front of those people.

Get your business in front of people who are looking to join your company.

Now, what is the best way to do that?

Go out and talk endlessly to your bum neighbor who you’ve already hit up 5 times to “go see the plan”?

What about your Uncle you see once a year at Thanksgiving?

Nope, you see people go online every day and use things like search engines to find solutions to their problems.  Now how to you know what they are searching for?

There are free tools for that….will tell you exactly how many people are searching to join your opportunity.

What if you created an article, video or blog post centered around the keyword “Join XYZ Company”, or “How To Join The Best Team In XYZ Company”?

Get your content in front of those people, and offer yourself as the solution they are looking for, and guaranteed you will have them emailing and calling you day and night.

Now these aren’t the only people you should be getting yourself in front of, but are certainly the most targeted ones.

Wanna make money in network marketing?

Ahh man, we really got dumped on here in Colorado with some Spring snow.

Tell ‘em you’ll send it to ‘em when they buy your ‘stuff’

(Ohhh yes, and you can have it automatically sent to them with your autoresponder without lifting a finger….)

Especially if you can write, these are fr’ee to come up with, and add a ton of perceived value to what you are selling.

If you can’t write, head over to a place called elance.com and hire someone to write a report for you, it’s really inexpensive.

Guaranteed if you start tacking on the freebies, you’ll get more moola and start to make money in network marketing.

Is This The Death Of Network Marketing As We Know It?

If you’ve been watching what has happened in the last year or so in our industry with many network marketing companies such as Success University, Liberty League International, and most recently ILearningGlobal either merging with other MLM’s, or changing their name and business model away
from a distributor model to a more traditional, main stream one, do all of the changes really spell the Death Of Network Marketing as we know it?

It is really a sad story, specifically for the distributors who have spent years of blood, sweat and tears faithfully promoting the company, its business opportunity and products only to have that yanked out from underneath them at a moments notice.

You have seen literally downlines in the tens of thousands and residual income in the thousands of dollars a month literally go “poof” overnight.

So, does all of this spell the death toll for the death of network marketing as wel know it?

Yes and No.

Yes, downlines have been lost, fortunes have been literally taken away in the middle of the night, but network marketing is strong and will continue to be strong.

However, you really need to take a good hard look at exactly how you are building your network marketing business.

If this isn’t a warning shot over the proverbial “ships bow” that you must in today’s day and age build an MLM business around yourself and what YOU personally have to offer, I honestly don’t know what is.

Absolutely incorporate the business opportunity and/or product line as stream of income into YOUR business, but don’t make it your sole source of revenue to pay the heating bill or make the mortgage payment.

Offer associated goods and services to people to fill THEIR needs first and you will be rewarded for that.

You don’t want to buy my juice/lotion/potion?

OK, no worries, but here is a great book I read from Amazon.com about health and wellness, I highly recommend it.

Ohh and yes, by the way collect an affiliate commission in the process of helping them find what THEY want first.

You don’t want to join my business opportunity because you love one already?

I’m cool with that. But if you want to grow your business on the internet, here is an auto-responder I recommend and use, it’s really good.

What you are really seeing is the slow painful death of traditional “company first” Network Marketing and one kick in the rear towards a “You First” model of network marketing.

Another step away from the “what you wanna sell” to a “what the market and your customers want” approach just out sheer necessity.

One more step away from the approach, “Hi my name is Johnie, I know we just met, but I’ve got this ‘Can’t Miss’ one of a kind business that you’ve gotta join” towards, “Hey I’m John, great to meet you, here is some really cool information that is gonna help you out, is there something I can help you with?” and being a resource for people to approach.

Again, no one really cares what YOU want, but they immensley care about what they want.

Why not build your business around multiple streams of income and help people achieve what they want and profit in the process?

But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

We Are All An Underdog In Our Network Marketing Business At One Time Or Another

Did you see THE game yesterday?

OK, if you don’t live in the U.S. it might not be THE game, but yep, the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl yesterday.

Big time.

Well, since my team wasn’t in the game, I usually root for the underdog, and in this case the Saints.

In particular, I love real underdog stories on a personal level.

Like with the Saints quarterback, Drew Brees.

Did you know the guy was written off as washed up?

Absolutely.

He used to be the quarterback for another team, the San Diego Chargers, but hurt his shoulder so they went out and drafted a new guy to replace him.

No other team wanted him, since they were worried about his shoulder, and that it wouldn’t hold out.

Some told him to hang it up, and even chuckled at him for keeping trying.

Really, the only one who believed in him……..was himself.

Tough position to be in.

But, he kept believing in himself and trying to find a home.

No one was just going to go out and give him another shot at his dream.

Only by force of will on his own part was he given a “shot” with another down-and-out franchise, the Saints.

Well, if you saw the game yesterday, I think you know the outcome of that one…

Kind of like you when you start out your own network marketing business, right?

I mean, NO ONE believes you can do this kind of thing, and some will even scoff at you for trying.

It can be hard to stomach, but, just like Drew, you’ve gotta have an inner belief in what you are doing, and know that this IS what you want to do.

Just as important to know is that no one is going to go hand you success on a silver platter, you’ve got to be
willing to go out there and get the success that you want.

Keep plugging away at it, learn what you can, and constantly try to improve yourself.

There will be setbacks, no doubt, but true success comes when you do a little gut-check and keep moving towards whatever your goal is.

First, the whole Maximum Leverage methodology is about building your business literally with as much leverage in it as possible, and how to do so without having to become a “guru” at PPC or lead generation, or recruiting.  Essentially, the way the course is laid out, it is like putting bricks together to form a sturdy wall.

Learn one technique, become proficient enough at it so that you earn at least $.01 more than you are putting into it….and then develop a system for it and automate it as much as possible and move onto the next.

The second pillar of this program is lead generation, and really how to generate TONS of leads from multiple sources.  Article or content marketing, blogging, your own virtual real estate, to beginning paid traffic and lead generation through pay per click marketing, ezine advertising and more advanced strategies like pay-per-view marketing, banner and text links, to even getting your offer into CPA networks.

Network Marketing in 2010

Kurt here.  Hope you had a great weekend and are ready to get charged up and dive into your business this week!

Along that note, I’ve been studying trends this past weekend and wanted to pass onto you 3 of those that are absolutely going to affect the home business industry in 2010 (and your business too)

OK, let me put my swami hat on and look into my crystal ball for ya here…..

1) More and more people will want to give a network marketing business a “try”.

There was a huge shift in the perception of the home  business industry over the last year, and this will only continue, particularly among career minded people.

In the past, there were definitely those who scoffed at the idea of getting into MLM, but once they saw that really their jobs in corporate america were only as stable as the release of quarterly earnings and could be dropped on a dime, they took notice and quickly looked for alternative ways to earn money.

(hint hint….the numbers of those looking to join an MLM biz will only increase)

2) Internet usage will continue to rise more and more.   In fact, a study released by microsoft said that by June of this upcoming year, the time people spend online will PASS that which people spend watching TV.

What does this mean for you?  You’ve GOT to get your business online and in front of people who are spending a huge amount of time in front of the computer.

3) The biggest growth in those both spending more time online, and looking for additional revenue sources is those that are 55 and older.

While teens and 20 somethings have and will continue to be on the ‘net, more and more of those 55 and older are spending more time online and are exploring things like facebook, twitter, and pay per click for the first time.

There are many reasons for this, but it is important to know this….the average internet user is getting older  (or more seasoned as I like to put it )

OK, so take that information, and USE it and think about it and incorporate this information into your business plan for 2010.

I wan’t to see each and every one of you achieve the level of success you desire in 2010.  You CAN do it!  Just go after it!
