Easiest Way To Get Started In Internet Network Marketing

Internet MLM Guru's Get It Wrong Sometimes

A couple of weeks ago, I was being interviewed by someone in our field and they asked what I consider an awesome question, “What Is The Best Way/Method or Technique To Get Started Generating Leads In Internet Network Marketing?”

Now let me tell you a little story about how I got started online (yep, long time ago).

You see, I had a blog (not this one) and focused on every “free” traffic and lead generation strategy I could get my hands on.

Everything from hanging out on 20 different social media sites, sending endless different “friend requests”, click click clicking away on sites such as traffic exchanges, to going to other marketers websites and posting endless comments on their blogs.

Next, I moved onto some what some of the more well known “GooRoos”  teach in terms of how to generate network marketing leads.

There is alot of talk, especially among “GooRoo’s” in the industry about how you should be paying for traffic for leads with things like Adwords, or Yahoo, or even going the route of putting newsletter ads on ezines together.

Even more popular are Social Media techniques on places like Facebook or MySpace or Twitter.

However, for the life of me, I couldn’t get an “real” targeted traffic without completely blowing my wallet out of the water.

Perhaps you have been through the same thing?

So, in the interview, the person asked an awesome question “What is the best way for a brand new person to get started in internet network marketing?”

Here is what I laid out for her, basically three strategies:

1) Content creation and distribution.  Namely here article or text marketing and video marketing.  Things like article marketing at sites like EzineArticles.com, or use sites like YouTube.com and TubeMogul.com to distribute keyword focused videos out there to as wide an audience as possible.

You can get a great laydown on exactly how to execute these in my book “Simple MLM Leads

2) Search Engine Optimization.  While not exactly a beginner strategy, it is far more simple than people make it out to be.

It boils down to two things:  creating keyword focused content, and going out and get links.  I’ve got a course in the works detailing some specific and easy to follow strategies that I use every day to do this.

3) Finally Social Media marketing.  With the former popularity of sites like MySpace, and current “hot commodities” of Facebook and Twitter, this is truly one of the most talked about ways to grow ones business on the internet.

Much like I said in my email yesterday, I’ll fully admit I am not an expert at Social Media Marketing, and have found that the vast majority of people who claim to be have very little concrete results to show for their efforts.

Hey Kurt,

I think your dead on when you suggest content creation and distribution as a starting block to any Network Marketing Opportunity. In doing so you learn a handful of other very fundamental and important skills eg: keyword research, SEO, relevancy, writing skills. After these skills are refined your ready to move into more advanced marketing. Great Post.

Matthew,

Your right on there my man. That is exactly why I tell people to start with basic content creation and distribution to hone their chops a little for those same skills you just mentioned.

Then they can move onto other slightly more advanced skills.

Great post , I agree with you here. I was on Katie’s webinar last night too, she’s done amazingly well with social media, I think the one thing extra I learned from her webinar was: to keep a relationship going with your leads by constantly updating them with your new content, it works for her..Louise

Ryan,

Agreed, but with any business, there are skills you must learn, no matter what marketing venue you apply them in. However, with Internet Network Marketing, you by far get more leverage over traditional warm market “home parties” and “harassing friends” strategies.

Hi there Kurt.
Yes. Getting qualified traffic, building a list and getting downline is what it is all about. I am loving the social networks at the moment. Just creating a big list through linking my blog to facebook, twitter, digg etc. Forming groups of facebook and providing excellent free information will bring about a very positive relationship and in the end mean that they will read your sales pitch once you release it. Greater percentage of clicks that way than normal email marketing strategies.
Anyway. Enjoyed my visit to your blog.

Best wishes

Peter

Hi Kurt, Great article man.

I think you bring up some good points. I would like to further add the quickest way to really get into the game is to start blogging and getting involved with the blogging community.

A person can learn a ton about our industry just by visiting blogs and participating in discussions. Also if a person is serious about marketing online, blogging will force them into a situation where they will have to start learning the skills to be successful online.

Thanks for sharing,
Larry
