In recent years, there has been a trend towards combining the internet and network marketing together. You will find ardent supporters on both sides, some claiming it is absolutely revolutionizing the home business industry, while others stake their claim that one could never build your business in such a manner, and instead should stick with tried and true methods that have worked for decades in the industry.
For many used to more traditional approaches of building an MLM business, looking at internet network marketing might seem like viewing some strange sort of beast. Ones warm market has always worked, because you can leverage the relationships you have built over years in order to sway or influence them to buy your product or join you in a business opportunity.
While I certainly do believe that more traditional methods of business building still work, it has become apparent to many that have been in the industry for decades that “what used to work” doesn’t work quite as well any more, and it has become almost a necessity to combine the internet and network marketing.
Why you might ask? It has to do with our culture today, at least here in the United States. Years ago, it WAS news to hear about a “way to earn extra money, or quit your job” and there was virtually zero competition for peoples attention. Now, with the ever increasing influx of advertising, media around 24/7, and tons of other competing priorities, it is now more important than ever to be at the forefront of peoples minds.
The idea of going where people are and getting in front of them is nothing new. Today, millions upon millions of people do searches on places like Google, hang out on Facebook, or watch videos on YouTube instead of going over to their neighbors and hanging out.
Also, when you combine the internet and network marketing, you can really start to target who actually wants and needs and is actively looking for your services, whether your product or opportunity. Instead of trying to go from person to person to person and trying to convince them to look at what you have, instead the tables can be turned and you are instead offering something valuable and sought after by people. This is more commonly referred to in the business world as target marketing.

Very good points in favor of internet network marketing, Kurt; quite honestly, I would not even know how to run my business if I had to do it face to face:).
Time change and our business industry should change with it.

One way link building strategies
Internet network marketing is the only way a person can really start see an income in the mlm industry online.
There are still old school network marketer’s telling people to go buy leads and call them.
For a person to really excel in this industry they must learn both internet marketing skills and network marketing skills. awesome post!
Larry,
You are dead on about needing skills in both arenas.
Kurt
Hi Kurt, I like your info about combining both Internet Marketing and Network Marketing together, and I’m doing it so to grow my MLM business.
A question I would like to ask, in your experience, how long does a new downline takes to learn both internet & network marketing? i.e. how long does it take for these skills to be duplicated downline?
Thanks
Honestly,
The hardest part to learn for most is the marketing piece, meaning how to write persuasively and shift their mindset from that of chasing after people to strategically going after a specific target market.
Once they get that down, the internet lead generation piece is pretty mechanical if they are willing to put time into it.
Every person has their own timeline, so it’s hard to say “how long”. Some get it in weeks, some take years.
