My biggest network marketing failure
Hey there folks,
Kurt Henninger here.  You know, I got to thinking a little bit this weekend about network marketing and how far too often you always hear about how successful people are, and you see them at the pinacle of their success, but they NEVER talk about their failures and how much the majority of them absolutely struggled just to make dime.
Well, I wanted to share a bit about my own failures before I started taking control of my business, even before I made a single dime for myself at a home business.
You see, when I got started, I thought I understood how to build a business, with a background in corporate america.
I knew I had to get my message out in front of people, and to be honest, felt extremely uncomfortable hounding family and friends about my products or business.  At the time, my upline kept telling me, just make your list of 100 people and start calling them and tell them you were thinking of them when you ran accross this great opportunity.
I mean, come on, the people I hung out with knew exactly how “fake” that would seem coming accross to them and It just felt really weird doing that anyway.  If I owned a brick and mortar business, would I go ahead and make a list of friends and ask them to buy from me?  Nope
So, off I went on what I thought was a great idea, buying flyers (mucho friggin expensive at that, they were like $250 for that load of them) and handed them out at community expos I was attending on a regular basis.  (Ohh yeah, did I mention the $200 I spent just to get a booth at ONE home expo)
Next came an advertisment in a local “targeted” magazine that I thought would be a slam dunk!  I even could get my company replicated website on THEIR page and have it listed for a year!
I started dreaming of big numbers….one year of ads in that magazine and one year being listed on their website.
Another $600 down the toilet without one visitor to my website, not one lead OR sale.
I’ll admit times were pretty grim at that point, and I was doubting my decision to dive into a home business at all.  I was wondering if I was ever going to make any money at all in this thing at all.
Then, by accident really, I discovered that you COULD build your business online on the internet, and generate leads from people who were actually interested in what you had to offer.
Now here is another thing that so many self-proclaimed “Goo-Roo’s” will never tell you, even about building a business online.  Success doesn’t come immediately, at least it didn’t for me.
You see, even online, I tried every “trick” in the book, and honestly, it even took me 3 months to make a dime, way before I started building my own email list and marketing myself online instead of my own company.
Only after testing and trying a BUNCH of things did I find a couple of things that REALLY worked, and worked well.
Anyway, the lesson here is this, don’t ever stop trying.  If you have a dream of making even $500 a month for yourself in a home business, don’t quit.  You’ll never get anywhere, and “they” will win, and tell you I told you so for years.
You can see, if a guy like me can go from passing out flyers at community expos, and blowing over $1000 on worthless community magazines and joining just about every networking group in the neightborhood, to building a successful home business online, I know ANYONE can.
Just keep at it my friend eventually you’ll find what works for YOU, whether its online, offline, or anywhere.
