Just last week, I went to a networking meeting. Yep, you heard it right, an offline networking meeting :)

Actually, it was an internet mastermind group I attend on occasion.

Anyway, so we were all there listening to a speaker who worked for one of the leading search engine training sites on the internet ,Stompernet.com, and about of all things, list building.

I won’t get too much into the search engine stuff we talked about, but really, the whole point of this guys presentation is that you MUST be building a list of subscribers, and that it doesn’t matter what business you are in.

You see that company launched a number of years ago, selling over $18 million dollars worth of services in ONE DAY.

How did they do it?

By email marketing to their email list, and some help with some partners who has email lists.

The whole point of having a site or blog is to build a list of subscribers to market to, any kind of product or service
online is to do this.

This strategy is so much more powerful than an old network marketing list of 100 friends and family

But the really cool part of the meeting was, something from one of the attendees, who he was and what he did.

You see, this older gentleman started talking about HIS business, and how he was running his completely through
his list of subscribers.

Now his was a little different than you might think, it was “How To Speak Effectively For Profit”, for several hundred dollars a pop and the really cool things is that this man was 79 years old.

Yep, 79 years old and has built up a list of subscribers of around 10,000 people, and sold his in-person, one-on-one
instruction all with email.

So here is my point here. If this crazy old guy can sell speaking courses, then you absolutely can do it yourself, no matter if it’s a business opportunity, or product.

The key is just getting after it and starting to build your list of subscribers.

The third key to ditching the network marketing list of friends and family is to learn to leverage the internet and really understand what it is used for.  Think of the internet and search engines like Google and Yahoo as a combination of the yellow pages and the encyclopedia all in one.  People do research and go to there to look for solutions to their problems.  Your job is to get your offer in front of as many of those people as possible.

You can write a quick two or three page report on what not to do to grow your network marketing business.  Title it something like this, ” 3 Biggest Mistakes Every Network Marketer Makes And What To Do To Avoid Them”.  Give that out as your bait for people to get on your MLM list.

Surely you’ve done things that were a mistake in your home business right?  Here is a quick list of mistakes: buying leads, putting out flyers in parking lots, being pushy with family and friends.  Something like that is a huge bait for growing your list.

You see, people are movitated by either pain or pleasure.  What you are offering for people to go on your MLM list is how to avoid those pains we just mentioned.  Its a curiosity driven item and people will always want to know what mistakes to avoid.  If you’ve bought leads, tell them not to do it, and that they need to generate leads online.  Something like that.

Write your short report and offer it to people to get on your MLM list.  Then start emailing people on your list every couple days and start building relationship with your potential network marketing business builders.
